When We Are Closed
Patients who require urgent medical advice or attention out of hours (after 18:00 until 08:00 and at the weekends) must phone NHS24 on 111.
A nurse adviser will determine whether advice is all that is necessary or whether a face to face consultation with a doctor is required. Patients in the Ellon area will be asked to go to either the David Anderson Building in Aberdeen (at Foresterhill) or to Peterhead Community Hospital where they will be seen. There is no facility, at the time of writing, for patients to be seen in Ellon other than if they genuinely require a house visit out of hours.
NHS 24
NHS24 take ALL 'Out of Hours' calls from patients. If a doctor then needs to be involved, NHS24 contact G-Med and they then deal with the matter.
NHS24 also provides an advice service which can be accessed 24 hours a day. Patients are encouraged to use this facility (freephone 111) to verify all sorts of health issues or queries which might save them waiting on the surgery line. Alternatively you can visit their website on http://www.nhs24.com/.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
